IAHC Committees

Each committee has a responsibility for the growth and success of the Indiana Affordable Housing Council (IAHC).  These committees are driven by their individual committee charters which outline membership, scope and key objectives.  

Executive Committee: The Executive Committee may act in place and stead of the Board of Directors between Board of Directors meetings on all matters specifically designated by the Board of Directors and the Bylaws. 

Nominating Committee: Responsible for recruiting, vetting and proposing board members and council officers.  Conducts the member election process at both the annual meeting and board of director’s officer elections at outlined in Section 6.4, 6.5 and 6.6 of the Bylaws. 

Finance Committee: Creates an annual budget & prepare annual budgets for the Board of Directors. Provides financial oversight for the organization. Drafts the proposed annual budget and oversees all financial planning, financial reporting and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies. Provides a committee report at meetings of the IAHC Board of Directors and Annual Membership meeting. 

Membership Committee: Consider strategies. promotions and required budgets needed to enhance membership growth.  In collaboration with other committees, this committee sets key strategies to increase membership recruitment, engagement, and retention. Provides a committee report at meetings of the IAHC Board of Directors and Annual Membership meeting. 

Government Affairs Committee: Reviews and proposes annual legislative agenda items. Keeps IAHC membership appraised of legislative issues affecting the affordable housing industry.  Working closely with contract lobby personnel and association management staff, provides the vision behind all legislative events and meetings. Meets with members of the Indiana General Assembly and/or their staff, presents in Legislative hearings/committees, and the like to promote the affordable housing industry. Attends and participates in political activities/fundraisers outside the Statehouse (personal donations, phone calls, attendance, hosting). Works closely with contract lobby personnel and association management staff. Provides a committee report at meetings of the IAHC Board of Directors and Annual Membership meeting. 

IHCDA Policy Committee: Discusses policy as it relates to the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. Proposes potential changes and collects feedback to serve as one voice on housing policy.  Provides a committee report at meetings of the IAHC Board of Directors and Annual Membership meeting. Works closely with association management staff and as needed, contract lobby personnel. 

Indiana Housing Conference Committee: Discusses policy as it relates to the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. Proposes potential changes and collects feedback to serve as one voice on housing policy. Provides a committee report at meetings of the IAHC Board of Directors and Annual Membership meeting. Works closely with association management staff and as needed, contract lobby personnel.
